yadda yadda yadda

i'm in a blogging rut. i look at my blog; i know i should update it, but when i have the time to update, like now, i cant think of anything particularly interesting to share.

let me just say that i cant believe it's the first of july today. where did the month of june go? it's always strange to experience the passing of time. to look forward to things for such a long time only to experience them and have them turn into a distant memory.

june was a month of training. new job training to be exact. i've been working 40ish hours a week for a little more than 3 weeks to learn how to do my new job. i'd say i know about 75-80% of what i need to know. the real test is in the coming days. originally this job was so appealing because i could work from home. so my boss is letting me do just that this saturday. im a bit nervous, since my safety net will not longer be sitting next to me, but i think i can handle it. luckily, we have this chat program at work and two other girls will be working on saturday, too, so i have back-up if i get stuck. you may be asking what it is that im even doing. fair play. i work for an online book company in their customer care department. i sit in front of a laptop, that's connected to another monitor (it's awesome working with two screens, lemme just say!) and i answer customer's emails all day. i should post some examples on here. they range from hilarious to irate to clever to kind to just plain weird. it's amazing how communication has changed with technology. there are definitely a high number of people that i think would filter more of what they communicated to us if they had to speak to us face-to-face. but since its through email, they assume we're not real people, so they can be as unfiltered as they'd like. at any rate, i like the job, strangely enough. it's very much a welcomed job after working in a high school last year. timing is a funny thing. and i like the company. they support good causes and whatnot. so that's that.

that's been consuming most of my time. the only other thing i consistently do is run/jog/walk. i am in the midst of training for a 5k, which in the big scheme of running 'races' isnt that big of a deal, but it's a big deal for me and i am actually enjoying training for it. not sure if my body would agree with that, but it's been good. it definitely is teaching me about discipline and prioritizing. after being gone for 12 hours for training, the last thing i wanted to do was come home and run, but i'm finding that it's rewarding. we'll see how it goes in august, i guess.

i've been to california and back. a good family vacation visiting some of my step-dad's brothers there. it was a great time! we were in more northern california, so it was a different change of pace than the southern part, which i have been to before. the trip was relatively relaxing even though we did A LOT. maybe i'll post pictures up on here some point. it definitely made me want to go back. i'd actually like to get outside and see more around there with all the parks and whatnot. i'd love to do more wine-tasting too!

i cant believe the 4th of july is here again. last year on the forth i was graduating from bible college in england. as if it's been a year already.

am heading to the other coast in less than a week. my good friend, brittany, is getting married in maine. so heading out to the east coast this time. am looking forward to the trip. maine's an awesome place and it will be awesome to catch up with friends!

listening to addison road's latest album. still like their first album better- but it's growing on me. it's nice and peppy to run to!

havent been reading as much as i should... recently finished 'you see bones, i see an army' by floyd mcclung and currently reading 'crazy love' by francis chan. have yet to finish the lotr trilogy. but that's on my 'list of summer reads.'

think that's it for now.

to end:

something that struck me on sunday,
Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God’s glory. We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.

texts.

some of my fave texts that i have received while living in england: "there's a program on irish tv tonight called 'death or canada'. i wish i had the energy to stay up and watch it. i may have some tshirts made." "Worse." "Than." "Hitler." "That's bad news bears, my friend. I hope your magic shirts are keeping you warm." "Because we're celebrating Christmas time, leave your shoes out at half past nine. Leave them out until half past ten. Santa should have been by then. (i know what you're thinking, 'why is sarah in bible college when she is so gifted in the literary technique of rhyming?)" "You make me feel. You make me feel. You make me feel like a natural woman." "Should be fun on a bun!" "And stay off the circle line. It is an instrument of the devil." "I'd love a bottle of fruit loops right about now." "I've never seen a movie that...

We're all moved in!

Expectancy

We have the following Bible verses written on a chalkboard above our kitchen sink: Because of God's tender mercy, the morning light from heaven is about to break upon us, to give light to those who sit in darkness & in the shadow of death, & to guide us to the path of peace. Luke 1:78-78 NLT I chose to write out these verses for a few reasons. First of all, I like the picture it illustrates of God's mercy & how ultimately his mercy & light lead us to peace. Second, these verses speak of hope to me. They say that even in darkness & death there is hope! And last, it reminds me to live every day with expectancy. It says that heaven "is about" to break upon us; it's almost foreshadowing God's faithfulness. I've been thinking about this third point a lot lately. Expectancy. What does it mean? What does it look like? I think I've referenced it before, but I'm reading a book that's written specifically for people in a time of ...
