this is not a date.

She finished work and hurried around to get ready for the wedding. She curled her hair, put on makeup and changed into a nice outfit. She was out the door in less than 40 minutes; she didn't want to be late. She drove to New Paris and picked up someone who knows her well. Someone who she has spent a lot of time with and someone who she doesn't get to see very often. The air was buzzing with excitement and conversation as they headed off to the cabin by the pond. They arrived to the ceremony and immediately sought out shade from the blazing sun. They said hello to the groom, were handed a program and eventually found a seat facing the white archway. They spoke with anticipation: What will the bride be wearing? Where are our other friends? Why is it so hot outside? Finally, the music started playing and before they knew it; the wedding had ended. After a nice meal and some delicious cake, they decided it was time to say goodbye to the bride and groom and go. Since entertainment options were somewhat limited, they decided on a bottle of sangria and a movie. They talked. They laughed. They reminisced. The bottle of wine finished just as the film finished and they decided it was time to head their separate ways. While driving her friend back home, the night's sky was lit up by fireworks. It was a perfect end to a perfect afternoon and evening, but rest assured it was not a date; only a lovely time with a dear friend.

Leave them out until half past ten. Santa should have been by then. (i know what you're thinking, 'why is sarah in bible college when she is so gifted in the literary technique of rhyming?)" "You make me feel. You make me feel. You make me feel like a natural woman." "Should be fun on a bun!" "And stay off the circle line. It is an instrument of the devil." "I'd love a bottle of fruit loops right about now." "I've never seen a movie that...

Expectancy

We have the following Bible verses written on a chalkboard above our kitchen sink: Because of God's tender mercy, the morning light from heaven is about to break upon us, to give light to those who sit in darkness & in the shadow of death, & to guide us to the path of peace. Luke 1:78-78 NLT I chose to write out these verses for a few reasons. First of all, I like the picture it illustrates of God's mercy & how ultimately his mercy & light lead us to peace. Second, these verses speak of hope to me. They say that even in darkness & death there is hope! And last, it reminds me to live every day with expectancy. It says that heaven "is about" to break upon us; it's almost foreshadowing God's faithfulness. I've been thinking about this third point a lot lately. Expectancy. What does it mean? What does it look like? I think I've referenced it before, but I'm reading a book that's written specifically for people in a time of ...
