a quick update.

i wanted to sit down a write a short update about life in korea before another week came and gone...

time is just zooming by and i really cant believe that it's already the first week of december. the weeks have been almost non-existent and it's kind of difficult to look back and to think about what i have been up to.

at school- things are pretty normal. i had a few birthday party's in november with my kindergartners, which is always fun... i've gotten a better hang of it, so that's been nice. my elementary school kids just got done taking level tests, which check what level they are at and we move students around if they need to change classes.. i had two pizza parties on friday with two of my classes, because i owed them a reward. so that was a nice time with the students, just getting to know them more. other than that- i think we're all ready for christmas break. i've started decorating my room, which was been fun. the kids love it! i am looking forward to christmas break, i am getting tired and i think the kids are getting antsy for some time off.

outside of school, things have been going well. i've been going into seoul quite a bit to do random things.. the weather has gotten cold, fast. we've had snow a few times, but it only stays for the day.. i am not looking forward to another winter in korea- i would almost prefer there to be more snow here than what we get, because i think with the snow it seems like the temperatures are more bearable.. but when it's just bitterly cold and there's not even an ounce of snow.. it's just kind of depressing. luckily, two of my amazing friends (brittany and jodi) left me to amazing winter coats, so i'm staying warm at least! ^^

i've become more involved with my church recently. we're trying to work out plans to go on a mission trip during a break we have in february. i am excited to be a part of that team and hopefully i will be able to keep becoming more involved with different parts of the church.

i am going to be home in three weeks, which is so difficult to imagine. i think it's going to be such a whirl-wind, but i think it will be a good break from korea. these first few months have been tough, so i'm kind of excited to leave for awhile.. even if it's only for nine days.. i am hoping that it will be rejuvenating.

well- that's about it from here... my weeks really just consist of teaching.. sometimes working out.. sometimes going tanning.. meeting up with friends for dinner.. and generally just watching movies or reading books.. nothing terribly exciting.. but all good nonetheless..

i will try to update at least one more time before i leave for christmas break!

texts.

some of my fave texts that i have received while living in england: "there's a program on irish tv tonight called 'death or canada'. i wish i had the energy to stay up and watch it. i may have some tshirts made." "Worse." "Than." "Hitler." "That's bad news bears, my friend. I hope your magic shirts are keeping you warm." "Because we're celebrating Christmas time, leave your shoes out at half past nine. Leave them out until half past ten. Santa should have been by then. (i know what you're thinking, 'why is sarah in bible college when she is so gifted in the literary technique of rhyming?)" "You make me feel. You make me feel. You make me feel like a natural woman." "Should be fun on a bun!" "And stay off the circle line. It is an instrument of the devil." "I'd love a bottle of fruit loops right about now." "I've never seen a movie that...

We're all moved in!

Expectancy

We have the following Bible verses written on a chalkboard above our kitchen sink: Because of God's tender mercy, the morning light from heaven is about to break upon us, to give light to those who sit in darkness & in the shadow of death, & to guide us to the path of peace. Luke 1:78-78 NLT I chose to write out these verses for a few reasons. First of all, I like the picture it illustrates of God's mercy & how ultimately his mercy & light lead us to peace. Second, these verses speak of hope to me. They say that even in darkness & death there is hope! And last, it reminds me to live every day with expectancy. It says that heaven "is about" to break upon us; it's almost foreshadowing God's faithfulness. I've been thinking about this third point a lot lately. Expectancy. What does it mean? What does it look like? I think I've referenced it before, but I'm reading a book that's written specifically for people in a time of ...
