"the quarter century club."

I have officially been alive for a quarter of a century. This fact often makes me think of the John Mayer song where he talks about having a "quarter-life crisis."
When I think about turning 25, it's something that I'm in denial about. Facing this birthday is something I've had real difficulty doing, which is very unlike me. I adore birthdays. I guess it's just been different this time around, because I always thought that by the age of 25 I'd have things sort of figured out or that I'd have some sort of "plan" for my life. Boy, is that not the case at all!

What's funny is that I didn't think that bothered me. The last few years have been incredible and I've been so blessed in so many ways. I thank God every day for taking my life and turning it all upside-down. I guess part of me didn't think I'd spend another birthday in South Korea, but even so, I'm not sure that's what even was bothering me.

At any rate- the "big" day has come and gone. On my actual birthday (a Thursday), my coworkers and bosses got a cake for me and some gift certificates. The kids were good, we had a small party and I got a couple presents. It was a good day at school. Later in the evening, I met up with a bunch of people and we grabbed some pizza and headed to my apartment. There were about 9 of us total and we ate pizza, drank wine and just enjoyed socialising with native English speakers. Friday night a group of us went out into Bundang- Samsung Plaza, for those of you who know- and went to a Mexican restaurant, and then went to an Irish Pub that we used to frequent last year. It was a good night, full of good people and good food.

I wanted to share a couple photos from the night. Thanks to Christan for taking some photos! I only have photos from being out and about on Friday night... we didn't take any on my actual birthday!

some of my fave texts that i have received while living in england: "there's a program on irish tv tonight called 'death or canada'. i wish i had the energy to stay up and watch it. i may have some tshirts made." "Worse." "Than." "Hitler." "That's bad news bears, my friend. I hope your magic shirts are keeping you warm." "Because we're celebrating Christmas time, leave your shoes out at half past nine. Leave them out until half past ten. Santa should have been by then. (i know what you're thinking, 'why is sarah in bible college when she is so gifted in the literary technique of rhyming?)" "You make me feel. You make me feel. You make me feel like a natural woman." "Should be fun on a bun!" "And stay off the circle line. It is an instrument of the devil." "I'd love a bottle of fruit loops right about now." "I've never seen a movie that...

We're all moved in!

Expectancy

We have the following Bible verses written on a chalkboard above our kitchen sink: Because of God's tender mercy, the morning light from heaven is about to break upon us, to give light to those who sit in darkness & in the shadow of death, & to guide us to the path of peace. Luke 1:78-78 NLT I chose to write out these verses for a few reasons. First of all, I like the picture it illustrates of God's mercy & how ultimately his mercy & light lead us to peace. Second, these verses speak of hope to me. They say that even in darkness & death there is hope! And last, it reminds me to live every day with expectancy. It says that heaven "is about" to break upon us; it's almost foreshadowing God's faithfulness. I've been thinking about this third point a lot lately. Expectancy. What does it mean? What does it look like? I think I've referenced it before, but I'm reading a book that's written specifically for people in a time of ...
