beautiful splendor..

i love korea in the spring time. the past few weeks have been wonderful. i have been making myself walk to work more often so that i can have more time outside and enjoy the small bits of beauty surrounding me.

the weather is turning warmer and before we know it, the dead heat of summer is going to be here. something i am very excited about; however, i will mourn spring time in korea.. it's the only time of the year i really notice the green on the trees, the colors of the flowers, and the children playing outside.

two weekends ago was spent down south visiting a friend. it was the second time i had been on his island, and i must say, i was just as in awe as i was the first time. the colors stuck out to me the most.. the beautiful, clean, clear, blue water.. the clear sky.. the dark of the night.. and the red, yellow, and orange of the sunset. it made me feel so much peace. i felt like i was truly surrounded by God's creation and i just marvelled at the sight.

as my time in korea ends i feel a sense of mourning for this season of my life. i find myself walking around suji feeling very attached to my surroundings. i find myself watching my kids interact with each other and feeling proud that i have taught so many of them for the past year.

i know this chapter of my life is ending and i am having a difficult time trusting that it is time to let go. i really do love living here. if nothing else, korea has become my home. it is the place where i feel most comfortable, the place where my friends are, and most importantly the place where my heart feels happy.

these next few weeks are going to be ones spent in much contemplation. i want to walk home slowly from work and just take in my surroundings. i want to sit in my classroom and just listen to my students speak english. i want to gather with friends and just be in their presence so i will never be able to forget how it feels. i want to enjoy every moment, and not take any of it for granted.

i thank God for this opportunity and this experience. without Him none of this would have ever happened. i would never have met the people i have grown close with, and i would have never have grown so much as a person. i pray that my time in korea has been one that has glorified Him and made Him look down upon us and smile.

i am not exactly sure what the next chaper of my life is going to be. i am not sure if i will end up back in korea or not. all i know is that it is in God's hands. He will lead me to where i need to go and i take great comfort in that.

texts.

some of my fave texts that i have received while living in england: "there's a program on irish tv tonight called 'death or canada'. i wish i had the energy to stay up and watch it. i may have some tshirts made." "Worse." "Than." "Hitler." "That's bad news bears, my friend. I hope your magic shirts are keeping you warm." "Because we're celebrating Christmas time, leave your shoes out at half past nine. Leave them out until half past ten. Santa should have been by then. (i know what you're thinking, 'why is sarah in bible college when she is so gifted in the literary technique of rhyming?)" "You make me feel. You make me feel. You make me feel like a natural woman." "Should be fun on a bun!" "And stay off the circle line. It is an instrument of the devil." "I'd love a bottle of fruit loops right about now." "I've never seen a movie that...

We're all moved in!

Expectancy

We have the following Bible verses written on a chalkboard above our kitchen sink: Because of God's tender mercy, the morning light from heaven is about to break upon us, to give light to those who sit in darkness & in the shadow of death, & to guide us to the path of peace. Luke 1:78-78 NLT I chose to write out these verses for a few reasons. First of all, I like the picture it illustrates of God's mercy & how ultimately his mercy & light lead us to peace. Second, these verses speak of hope to me. They say that even in darkness & death there is hope! And last, it reminds me to live every day with expectancy. It says that heaven "is about" to break upon us; it's almost foreshadowing God's faithfulness. I've been thinking about this third point a lot lately. Expectancy. What does it mean? What does it look like? I think I've referenced it before, but I'm reading a book that's written specifically for people in a time of ...
