a typical day..

some things my students have been telling me lately:
  1. "teacher.. dark circles." -sally said while pointing at my eyes
  2. "i think you are 35." -a couple different students have said while talking about my age
  3. "teacher, you married?" -hyuk su said while looking at my toe rings
  4. *while chanting 'here comes the bride'* "teacher, you, married, bali bali." -june, expressing his concern that i am 24 years old and that i had better hurry up if i was ever going to get married
  5. "teacher glasses.. down." -henry tells me to do. after i figure out they're telling me to take my glasses off my face they respond...
  6. "oh, teacher, very beautiful. more beautiful. face prettier." (hahaha)
  7. "teacher, 24, no marry? not good. no marry, ahjuma?" -june again, asking if i was going to be an old lady and still be single
  8. "you look tired." -something i get told almost twenty times a day by numerous people
  9. "teacher, you and bill teacher, love? marry? yes. you love bill teacher. you get married." -the same class trying to convince me that i need to get married asap
  10. "stefanie teacher has two boyfriends. one she talks to online and the other she walks to church with. i saw her." -judy, a student who told my co-worker this and then my co-worker proceeded to ask me if i was dating anyone
  11. "why dont you get a boyfriend?" - a question i got from my co-worker, yuni (i didn't realise i could just get a boyfriend)
glad we worry about the important things in my life...

"You make me feel. You make me feel. You make me feel like a natural woman." "Should be fun on a bun!" "And stay off the circle line. It is an instrument of the devil." "I'd love a bottle of fruit loops right about now." "I've never seen a movie that...

Second, these verses speak of hope to me. They say that even in darkness & death there is hope! And last, it reminds me to live every day with expectancy. It says that heaven "is about" to break upon us; it's almost foreshadowing God's faithfulness. I've been thinking about this third point a lot lately. Expectancy. What does it mean? What does it look like? I think I've referenced it before, but I'm reading a book that's written specifically for people in a time of ...
