oxford. england.

I have been in Oxford, England for a week and a half now. I wanted to share a few photos.
This is what I see when I look out my bedroom window. It's really quite lovely when the weather is lovely. Although, I don't think I'm going to be experiencing "lovely" weather any time soon!



This is one of the many photos that Jodi took the day her and I wandered around Oxford. It was wonderful to see her beautiful face my first weekend in town and it was nice to walk around this new city that I'm in!

My housemates and I hosted American Thanksgiving at our house. We had about 30 people come over for dinner. Here are three of the five pies that my roommate, Sarah, and I made. They were delicious!
This last photo was also taken from my window in my bedroom. I have actually seen the sunshine more than I thought I would while I was here, so don't let these photos deceive you. I'm hoping to update with more photos and actual information soon.

Expectancy

We have the following Bible verses written on a chalkboard above our kitchen sink: Because of God's tender mercy, the morning light from heaven is about to break upon us, to give light to those who sit in darkness & in the shadow of death, & to guide us to the path of peace. Luke 1:78-78 NLT I chose to write out these verses for a few reasons. First of all, I like the picture it illustrates of God's mercy & how ultimately his mercy & light lead us to peace. Second, these verses speak of hope to me. They say that even in darkness & death there is hope! And last, it reminds me to live every day with expectancy. It says that heaven "is about" to break upon us; it's almost foreshadowing God's faithfulness. I've been thinking about this third point a lot lately. Expectancy. What does it mean?
