an ending and beginning...

the school year is officially over. we've had our kindergarten festival and graduation. as you can see from this photo, it was quite the fiasco. my students and i were very happy when it was over. it was a long, stressful day... but in the end, the parents and my bosses were very happy with the show- so that's what mattered that day!

after our show and graduation ceremony, we still had one week left of school. we had five days to finish up heaps of work and to just sort of spend time with our kids. honestly, it was a long week. we were pretty much finished with our work by wednesday, so we didn't have much to do. luckily, my students loved playing uno, so we spent a lot of time this week shouting 'uno!' at each other... or as one kid liked to say, "UFO!" *sigh*

i found myself feeling a bit strange on friday. it was my last official day with my kids and i was really sad about it. all of my students, but one, are coming back for afternoon classes, though, so i will at least see them around the hall-ways... i just know that i am no longer their teacher and it seems so strange.
the transition between classes and one school year to the next is something that's new for me. i'm a bit nervous to walk into my classroom tomorrow morning and have all of these new eyes looking at me. i've been lucky, in the respects, that i have a good group of kids coming into my classroom, so i can't complain there! i'm just sort of bummed, because i feel like i've just finally gotten established with my kids and now they're gone...

as for school news, that's about it. we have gotten a new teacher this past week and will get another new teacher this coming week. we're all sort of anxious to get that change over. it's always hard to say good-bye to people leaving and yet be welcoming to the new teachers at the same time.

i cannot believe that it's march already. february was almost non-existent, even though there was an extra day this year! my march is filling up quickly with plans at church and with friends. this friday i'm going to see maroon 5 in seoul. i am pretty excited about that. yesterday, i was in seoul with two friends and we went to a board-game cafe. it was one of the coolest things ever. you pay by the hour and they have this whole book of board-games that they have! it was so much fun! we played sequence and clue! i'm excited for the weather to turn nicer so it won't be such a bear to be outside...

spring... where are you???

texts.

some of my fave texts that i have received while living in england: "there's a program on irish tv tonight called 'death or canada'. i wish i had the energy to stay up and watch it. i may have some tshirts made." "Worse." "Than." "Hitler." "That's bad news bears, my friend. I hope your magic shirts are keeping you warm." "Because we're celebrating Christmas time, leave your shoes out at half past nine. Leave them out until half past ten. Santa should have been by then. (i know what you're thinking, 'why is sarah in bible college when she is so gifted in the literary technique of rhyming?)" "You make me feel. You make me feel. You make me feel like a natural woman." "Should be fun on a bun!" "And stay off the circle line. It is an instrument of the devil." "I'd love a bottle of fruit loops right about now." "I've never seen a movie that...

We're all moved in!

Expectancy

We have the following Bible verses written on a chalkboard above our kitchen sink: Because of God's tender mercy, the morning light from heaven is about to break upon us, to give light to those who sit in darkness & in the shadow of death, & to guide us to the path of peace. Luke 1:78-78 NLT I chose to write out these verses for a few reasons. First of all, I like the picture it illustrates of God's mercy & how ultimately his mercy & light lead us to peace. Second, these verses speak of hope to me. They say that even in darkness & death there is hope! And last, it reminds me to live every day with expectancy. It says that heaven "is about" to break upon us; it's almost foreshadowing God's faithfulness. I've been thinking about this third point a lot lately. Expectancy. What does it mean? What does it look like? I think I've referenced it before, but I'm reading a book that's written specifically for people in a time of ...
