corea.

it's official. i am now a kindergarten teacher.

today was my first day teaching the little rug-rats and i must admit that it was much more enjoyable than i thought it would be. however, with that said, it's also a lot more exhausting than i ever knew and dont know how people do this for a living!

i observed all of jodi's classes for three days. and today i was finally centre stage; she got to sit on the sidelines and observe. she was really great about giving me new ideas after class, and encouraging me that i was, in fact, doing great. she was fabulous today. i am so lucky to be able to have this week with her at school! i am getting the best training EVER and i really think it's going to pay off in the end!

i am enjoying my time back in korea. it's been fun to catch up with friends, eat heaps of kimchi, and just enjoy the familiar surroundings of suji. my first day back, we went into seoul for most of the day. it was exciting. i have missed the big city a little bit. although- there are things i'm going to have to get used to again.. like all the people! i'm not used to sharing the same space with so many people! it's not a huge deal, just something i've kind of forgotten about.

tomorrow will be my second full day of teaching, and i'm excited for it! i will teach kindergarten most of the day and then three after school classes that consist of elementary students. i am looking forward to the weekend and having a little time to relax. teaching this time around is going to be a bit more tiring than last time, i think. especially these first few weeks. it's going to take a little bit of time to really get into the swing of things. although, i think i'm really going to enjoy it!

i am just so thankful. the trip here went as smoothly as it could. the transition with the time change is even going well. school is better than i could have imagined. and i'm just all around happy to be back. it's funny how korea can make me feel so calm and content. i am not sure why; i am just thankful that i'm here.

texts.

some of my fave texts that i have received while living in england: "there's a program on irish tv tonight called 'death or canada'. i wish i had the energy to stay up and watch it. i may have some tshirts made." "Worse." "Than." "Hitler." "That's bad news bears, my friend. I hope your magic shirts are keeping you warm." "Because we're celebrating Christmas time, leave your shoes out at half past nine. Leave them out until half past ten. Santa should have been by then. (i know what you're thinking, 'why is sarah in bible college when she is so gifted in the literary technique of rhyming?)" "You make me feel. You make me feel. You make me feel like a natural woman." "Should be fun on a bun!" "And stay off the circle line. It is an instrument of the devil." "I'd love a bottle of fruit loops right about now." "I've never seen a movie that...

Expectancy

We have the following Bible verses written on a chalkboard above our kitchen sink: Because of God's tender mercy, the morning light from heaven is about to break upon us, to give light to those who sit in darkness & in the shadow of death, & to guide us to the path of peace. Luke 1:78-78 NLT I chose to write out these verses for a few reasons. First of all, I like the picture it illustrates of God's mercy & how ultimately his mercy & light lead us to peace. Second, these verses speak of hope to me. They say that even in darkness & death there is hope! And last, it reminds me to live every day with expectancy. It says that heaven "is about" to break upon us; it's almost foreshadowing God's faithfulness. I've been thinking about this third point a lot lately. Expectancy. What does it mean? What does it look like? I think I've referenced it before, but I'm reading a book that's written specifically for people in a time of ...
