the art of texting.

Since my mobile phone is quickly fading, I'm going to attempt to chronicle a few texts that have given me a good chuckle or made me smile over the past year:

-Seen on a bag in the subway: "Sing, Dance, Floss & Travel" -don't we though?
-Randomness is amazing, like the smell of herbs.
-And then, I ate McDonald's.
-The only problem with sushi for lunch is that you really feel that after work beer!
-When I'm yelled at by a customer, I think, "I'm done, who needs a job anyhow?" But then I don't, because I'm afraid I'll end up living in a van down by the river.
-No worries. I just thought I'd check in and see how sober you were.
-I'm not in hell, am I?
-I'm wearing my sexy boots!
-My cow is growing!
-Thanks for the card and the gun!
-Word honey child.
-You and your flippin' journal writing.
-This is it. It's World Cup time and the US of A have no place in this great occasion. Justice will be served. Come on Blighty!
-Uh, there's a marching band in your backyard.
-Moosie Moosie Moosie Moosie!
-To midwest: the act of being in the midwest. I think it should be a verb.
-Of course! Watching Stanford crush those leprechauns!
-I'm engaged!!!!!!!!!
-MORDOR!!
-I strongly dislike country music. I do not think his tractor is sexy.
-Few theme songs surpass that of M*A*S*H.

Oh my word! I'm literally laughing out loud at these! And I'm pretty sure the one about not thinking his tractor is sexy is one you wrote to me! HA! I love those texts! You should so frame them! Serious! And you obviously have cooler friends than me who write cooler texts!

"No worries. I just thought I'd check in and see how sober you were."

LOVE IT!

And come on now! Since you KNOW who's allowed to view your blog, do you really still need to "approve" the comment before it's published?! :)

texts.

some of my fave texts that i have received while living in england: "there's a program on irish tv tonight called 'death or canada'. i wish i had the energy to stay up and watch it. i may have some tshirts made." "Worse." "Than." "Hitler." "That's bad news bears, my friend. I hope your magic shirts are keeping you warm." "Because we're celebrating Christmas time, leave your shoes out at half past nine. Leave them out until half past ten. Santa should have been by then. (i know what you're thinking, 'why is sarah in bible college when she is so gifted in the literary technique of rhyming?)" "You make me feel. You make me feel. You make me feel like a natural woman." "Should be fun on a bun!" "And stay off the circle line. It is an instrument of the devil." "I'd love a bottle of fruit loops right about now." "I've never seen a movie that...

Expectancy

We have the following Bible verses written on a chalkboard above our kitchen sink: Because of God's tender mercy, the morning light from heaven is about to break upon us, to give light to those who sit in darkness & in the shadow of death, & to guide us to the path of peace. Luke 1:78-78 NLT I chose to write out these verses for a few reasons. First of all, I like the picture it illustrates of God's mercy & how ultimately his mercy & light lead us to peace. Second, these verses speak of hope to me. They say that even in darkness & death there is hope! And last, it reminds me to live every day with expectancy. It says that heaven "is about" to break upon us; it's almost foreshadowing God's faithfulness. I've been thinking about this third point a lot lately. Expectancy. What does it mean? What does it look like? I think I've referenced it before, but I'm reading a book that's written specifically for people in a time of ...
