pre-sleep.

i'm on my way to sleep, but wanted to write before doing so.

this morning was the first morning that i've woken up in MONTHS and have not felt tired. it's been such a blessing to feel rested all day today. praise God for sleep! on a similar note, i am back to dreaming pretty much every night and it's funny how you will dream about people who you haven't seen in years or don't have a relationship with anymore. i wonder how those people pop into your subconsciousness while you're sleeping. it's quite strange, really.

i found the book 'the giver' at goodwill today. i remember reading the book in elementary school and thinking that the idea of living in a secluded community like described in the book would be bizarre. i read about half of it today while 'working' at goodwill and hope that it's still there tomorrow so that i can finish it. it's quite an interesting book, especially to read again as an adult and im interested to see how it ends, cuz i dont remember from reading it before!

i am also feeling the desire to start the 2nd lotr book. i finished 'the hobbit' and 'the fellowship...' before christmas, but havent hopped back on the bandwagon... i liked them. but obviously not enough that im eager to start the next book.

i cant believe tomorrow is only tuesday. i am hoping for a school delay. last time i looked outside the snow was coming down pretty heavily!

i am continually overwhelmed by God's goodness and love. it's truly extravagant.

still enjoying the psalms and isaiah.

cant believe lent is starting this week. but am sort of excited for it. lent last year was really a time of faith-building and so i am expectant this year for more!

with that... i'm out. my eyes are getting droopy.

i will trust in him and not be afraid. the lord God is my strength and my song; he has given me victory. --isaiah 12.2b

texts.

some of my fave texts that i have received while living in england: "there's a program on irish tv tonight called 'death or canada'. i wish i had the energy to stay up and watch it. i may have some tshirts made." "Worse." "Than." "Hitler." "That's bad news bears, my friend. I hope your magic shirts are keeping you warm." "Because we're celebrating Christmas time, leave your shoes out at half past nine. Leave them out until half past ten. Santa should have been by then. (i know what you're thinking, 'why is sarah in bible college when she is so gifted in the literary technique of rhyming?)" "You make me feel. You make me feel. You make me feel like a natural woman." "Should be fun on a bun!" "And stay off the circle line. It is an instrument of the devil." "I'd love a bottle of fruit loops right about now." "I've never seen a movie that...

We're all moved in!

Expectancy

We have the following Bible verses written on a chalkboard above our kitchen sink: Because of God's tender mercy, the morning light from heaven is about to break upon us, to give light to those who sit in darkness & in the shadow of death, & to guide us to the path of peace. Luke 1:78-78 NLT I chose to write out these verses for a few reasons. First of all, I like the picture it illustrates of God's mercy & how ultimately his mercy & light lead us to peace. Second, these verses speak of hope to me. They say that even in darkness & death there is hope! And last, it reminds me to live every day with expectancy. It says that heaven "is about" to break upon us; it's almost foreshadowing God's faithfulness. I've been thinking about this third point a lot lately. Expectancy. What does it mean? What does it look like? I think I've referenced it before, but I'm reading a book that's written specifically for people in a time of ...
