an update.

I have lost track of time. I woke up today not being entirely sure which day it was. Always such a strange sensation when that happens.

The Bible College that I am going to is part of a family of churches called Salt & Light. They had a European Leader's Conference this past weekend starting on Friday evening and ending on Monday afternoon. Being part of that family, we were expected to attend the conference and help out on different teams. Needless to say, the weekend was super busy, hence why I was a bit confused as to what day it was when I woke up this morning.

We don't have college this week, which is nice. I'm going to London for the day on Thursday and possibly to Bath for the day on Friday. I am looking forward to getting out of Oxford for a little bit. It's easy to feel a bit suffocated here.

I find my mind wandering to the future and how it's quickly approaching. I really only have about 4 months left of college and then I'm done. I am not sure what I'm going to do once July hits. I am not letting myself think about it, though. I need to be where I am presently and learn to live in that. Things will work out- I trust in that.

Saw a good friend over the weekend, which has since made me a bit homesick. Although, I don't think homesick is the right word. I yearn for periods of time that no longer exist. Things change so quickly once you leave a place and you can never really go back. It's something that I just haven't been able to fully get used to.. and I'm not sure if I ever will.

But as for now, I am in Oxford, attending Bible college with 26 other people and stretching myself each day. I am thankful for where I am, even if sometimes it's not easy.

For the LORD your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs. --Zephaniah 3.17 NLT

I really can't wait to see you, my lovely friend. I just wish we had more time to catch up. We'll have to make do with dinner though and be grateful for that. xoxo

some of my fave texts that i have received while living in england: "there's a program on irish tv tonight called 'death or canada'. i wish i had the energy to stay up and watch it. i may have some tshirts made." "Worse." "Than." "Hitler." "That's bad news bears, my friend. I hope your magic shirts are keeping you warm." "Because we're celebrating Christmas time, leave your shoes out at half past nine. Leave them out until half past ten. Santa should have been by then. (i know what you're thinking, 'why is sarah in bible college when she is so gifted in the literary technique of rhyming?)" "You make me feel. You make me feel. You make me feel like a natural woman." "Should be fun on a bun!" "And stay off the circle line. It is an instrument of the devil." "I'd love a bottle of fruit loops right about now." "I've never seen a movie that...

Expectancy

We have the following Bible verses written on a chalkboard above our kitchen sink: Because of God's tender mercy, the morning light from heaven is about to break upon us, to give light to those who sit in darkness & in the shadow of death, & to guide us to the path of peace. Luke 1:78-78 NLT I chose to write out these verses for a few reasons. First of all, I like the picture it illustrates of God's mercy & how ultimately his mercy & light lead us to peace. Second, these verses speak of hope to me. They say that even in darkness & death there is hope! And last, it reminds me to live every day with expectancy. It says that heaven "is about" to break upon us; it's almost foreshadowing God's faithfulness. I've been thinking about this third point a lot lately. Expectancy. What does it mean? What does it look like? I think I've referenced it before, but I'm reading a book that's written specifically for people in a time of ...
