...there's more than corn in indiana...

For one thing, there is Brendan. We met up in Chicago, spent the day downtown, then headed back to Indiana. He spent five days here. It was great to see him and spend time with him!

Brendan and I met back in April of 2006 at an Easter Mass in Seoul. We didn't really connect until we stumbled upon each other on our way to Beijing in October of the same year. Our time in China sealed our fate.. we were friends.
The thing I love about Brendan is that he's not afraid to be himself. I love Brendan because he is absolutely ridiculous. I laugh so hard when he is around. I also love his sincerity and honesty. He's such a good Irish, Catholic man!

Next came Brittany. Brendan and I picked her up while we were in Chicago and the three of us made the journey back to Indiana. Brittany stayed with me for 10 days. It was an amazing time. It was the first time I have seen her since she left me in Korea back in February. I love how we can just pick up where we left off. It felt like no time had passed and nothing had changed between us.

I originally met Brittany back in November 2005 in New Zealand. We were both taking a TESOL course in Thames and we became friends very very quickly. After our course was finished we decided to use the skills we just learned and we headed to South Korea together. We taught at the same school and lived together for over a year. She is an amazing woman from MAINE, USA! I really admire the woman Brittany has become in the time that I have known her.

I also laugh a lot when Brittany is around. She is fun-loving and considerate. She doesn't act her age and just wants to have a good time. She loves people and loves God. I am so blessed to have her in my life and I cannot wait to see her again this summer!

My final visitor was Susan. She came down and spent two days with Brittany and I! It was so awesome to see her twice in less than two weeks! She drove down from Windsor, Ontario and enjoyed her two Americans.

Susan and I met in February of 2006. We met through a mutual friend, and started hanging out a lot in South Korea. Susan left us in Korea last August and so this was the first time we had seen her in over ten months! It was amazing. Again, it felt like things never changed. It was fun to just pick up where we left off and to just enjoy each other's company. We didn't do much while Susan was here. We primarily wanted to focus on just being together.

I love Susan dearly. She's like an older sister to me. I look up to her for counsel and guidance. She makes me laugh 'til I can't breathe, she makes me blush like there's no tomorrow and she's one of the most genuine people you'll ever meet.

I have been so blessed these past 2-3 weeks. I have really enjoyed being able to catch up with friends, especially ones that I met in Korea. I am looking forward to seeing them all again during the rest of my time at home, as well as, seeing other people I have met while in Korea!

:::My life is going to be relatively normal for the next couple weeks, so I will try to do a better job at posting things on here. I am doing fine with the whole transitioning thing. I am looking forward to a calm couple weeks before things pick back up again. I am still figuring out exactly what my future holds. God is still working on me.. guiding, loving, nudging, and listening.

some of my fave texts that i have received while living in england: "there's a program on irish tv tonight called 'death or canada'. i wish i had the energy to stay up and watch it. i may have some tshirts made." "Worse." "Than." "Hitler." "That's bad news bears, my friend. I hope your magic shirts are keeping you warm." "Because we're celebrating Christmas time, leave your shoes out at half past nine. Leave them out until half past ten. Santa should have been by then. (i know what you're thinking, 'why is sarah in bible college when she is so gifted in the literary technique of rhyming?)" "You make me feel. You make me feel. You make me feel like a natural woman." "Should be fun on a bun!" "And stay off the circle line. It is an instrument of the devil." "I'd love a bottle of fruit loops right about now." "I've never seen a movie that...

Expectancy

We have the following Bible verses written on a chalkboard above our kitchen sink: Because of God's tender mercy, the morning light from heaven is about to break upon us, to give light to those who sit in darkness & in the shadow of death, & to guide us to the path of peace. Luke 1:78-78 NLT I chose to write out these verses for a few reasons. First of all, I like the picture it illustrates of God's mercy & how ultimately his mercy & light lead us to peace. Second, these verses speak of hope to me. They say that even in darkness & death there is hope! And last, it reminds me to live every day with expectancy. It says that heaven "is about" to break upon us; it's almost foreshadowing God's faithfulness. I've been thinking about this third point a lot lately. Expectancy. What does it mean? What does it look like? I think I've referenced it before, but I'm reading a book that's written specifically for people in a time of ...
