a thankful thursday.

I've come to my blog dozens of times in the past few weeks with the hope that something would come out of my brain, but I always ended up leaving with no new post.

My intention with starting up my blog again was to process and share about life, but I haven't been doing a very good job of that. I have hundreds of excuses, but the reality is; I haven't wanted to sit down and really reflect at what is going on inside of me.

I am good at avoiding.

So instead of sitting here for hours and trying to put my thoughts together in a coherent post. I'm going to simply make a short list of things going on inside of me. Perhaps, at a later time, I'll expand those thoughts.

  • While I'm not struggling with my actual age; I sometimes forget how old that I am and that I turned another year older last month. I just don't feel my age and while I'm grateful, it's kind of a weird experience!
  • Because of our weather recently, it's made me think a lot about the weather last year and how merciful God was on our wedding day. I literally prayed that it wouldn't snow on our wedding day. I despise snow. And I'm just so thankful that we had decent weather last year. It wasn't warm, but the sun was shining and there was no snow!
  • For some reason, I really don't enjoy reading like I used to. Although, I say that and then think back to last month when I was given a book to read and I read it in less than 3 days. I guess I'm just in need of some really good books!
  • I'm not gonna lie, I'm super excited about seeing the Mockingjay movie!
  • Since be married, I've discovered that I enjoy cooking. Don't get me wrong, sometimes my dinner consists of popcorn. But I really enjoy finding new recipes and trying them out. I never really knew this about myself until this past year!
  • I don't take as many photos as I used to. I'm not sure if that is because of where I live or because of having an iPhone... but I sometimes miss the days of taking my camera and wandering around for hours.
  • Recently, I've been organizing all of my photos (well, the digital ones) and creating photo books. It's been so fun to look back at the past decade and reminisce. So in honor of 'throw back' Thursday, I'll end my post today with some of my faves...

2009. England.
2013. Mozambique.
2004. Australia.
2006. South Korea.

some of my fave texts that i have received while living in england: "there's a program on irish tv tonight called 'death or canada'. i wish i had the energy to stay up and watch it. i may have some tshirts made." "Worse." "Than." "Hitler." "That's bad news bears, my friend. I hope your magic shirts are keeping you warm." "Because we're celebrating Christmas time, leave your shoes out at half past nine. Leave them out until half past ten. Santa should have been by then. (i know what you're thinking, 'why is sarah in bible college when she is so gifted in the literary technique of rhyming?)" "You make me feel. You make me feel. You make me feel like a natural woman." "Should be fun on a bun!" "And stay off the circle line. It is an instrument of the devil." "I'd love a bottle of fruit loops right about now." "I've never seen a movie that...

We're all moved in!

Expectancy

We have the following Bible verses written on a chalkboard above our kitchen sink: Because of God's tender mercy, the morning light from heaven is about to break upon us, to give light to those who sit in darkness & in the shadow of death, & to guide us to the path of peace. Luke 1:78-78 NLT I chose to write out these verses for a few reasons. First of all, I like the picture it illustrates of God's mercy & how ultimately his mercy & light lead us to peace. Second, these verses speak of hope to me. They say that even in darkness & death there is hope! And last, it reminds me to live every day with expectancy. It says that heaven "is about" to break upon us; it's almost foreshadowing God's faithfulness. I've been thinking about this third point a lot lately. Expectancy. What does it mean? What does it look like? I think I've referenced it before, but I'm reading a book that's written specifically for people in a time of ...
