another sunday night. another week staring at me. this week, however, is different. i dont have to wake up at 6.45 tomorrow and walk 40 minutes to college. i dont even have to set my alarm if i dont want to. it's officially easter holidays. needless to say, i am excited that it's here. and so is my body. i'm tired.

things have continued to be pretty busy around here. college has been busy with lots of things to do before the end of the second term. we've had some paperwork to get sorted and assignments to plan. we've also had a passover dinner and time of reflection as a community. once i left church today, though, it marked the end of term 2. and i am speechless.

term 2 was a bit different than term 1 especially in the respects that i was actually here for the entire thing. when term 1 ended, i had only been in england for a month or so and my head was still foggy from the whirlwind of jumping straight into college upon arrival.

this time i was here from day one until the last day. i didnt miss a single day in the middle either, even though perhaps there were days i would have liked to miss. this term was a lot about spiritual formation and how Jesus shapes us into being more and more like him. it was a good term. i learned a lot about myself and a lot about who God has made me to be. there have been some dark moments, some days where i didnt want to get out of bed but in the end, it's all been good and worth it. i would say i still have a long ways to go. but i think everyone can relate to that. i think we live our whole lives being transformed each day, hoping to reflect Jesus' character somehow.

i look forward to term 3. it's the last term. i cant believe how quickly time is going and the last term is only going to go more quickly. we are going on a trip to north africa, which i'm very much so looking forward to. we're also going to be more focused on missions and missional churches. two things i am very interested in!

i still dont know what life looks like after college is over in england. i am still praying about it. i am not worried. if i have learned anything throughout this process it is that i'm not the one who is in control and i dont need to go off making lots of plans. cuz if i do, i'll probably find those plans being changed or things happening a different way than i thought that they would. so right now, i'm just living presently.

i intend to enjoy my two weeks off. i plan to relax. i plan to write an essay. i plan to visit ireland. i plan to spend a week with a friend from home. i plan to pray. to read. to take photos. to sleep. to be outside as much as the weather allows. to laugh. to cry. to bake. to continue to listen for God's voice to lead me. so when term 3 starts, i'll be ready.

texts.

some of my fave texts that i have received while living in england: "there's a program on irish tv tonight called 'death or canada'. i wish i had the energy to stay up and watch it. i may have some tshirts made." "Worse." "Than." "Hitler." "That's bad news bears, my friend. I hope your magic shirts are keeping you warm." "Because we're celebrating Christmas time, leave your shoes out at half past nine. Leave them out until half past ten. Santa should have been by then. (i know what you're thinking, 'why is sarah in bible college when she is so gifted in the literary technique of rhyming?)" "You make me feel. You make me feel. You make me feel like a natural woman." "Should be fun on a bun!" "And stay off the circle line. It is an instrument of the devil." "I'd love a bottle of fruit loops right about now." "I've never seen a movie that...

Expectancy

We have the following Bible verses written on a chalkboard above our kitchen sink: Because of God's tender mercy, the morning light from heaven is about to break upon us, to give light to those who sit in darkness & in the shadow of death, & to guide us to the path of peace. Luke 1:78-78 NLT I chose to write out these verses for a few reasons. First of all, I like the picture it illustrates of God's mercy & how ultimately his mercy & light lead us to peace. Second, these verses speak of hope to me. They say that even in darkness & death there is hope! And last, it reminds me to live every day with expectancy. It says that heaven "is about" to break upon us; it's almost foreshadowing God's faithfulness. I've been thinking about this third point a lot lately. Expectancy. What does it mean? What does it look like? I think I've referenced it before, but I'm reading a book that's written specifically for people in a time of ...
